New boiler - the choice?

How old is your current boiler?

Boilers that are over 15 years old can often be only around 60% efficient or less (rated G in the SEDBUK* scale) compared to a new boiler which means that for every £1 that you spend on fuel, 40 pence is wasted.

We understand that updating your current boiler to a new condensing boiler can be a easy way to lower fuel bills and improve the energy efficiency of your home.

This is why we recommend gas condensing boilers, these are all over 90% efficient and A-rated for efficiency, meaning they are not only better for the environment but reduce fuel bills as well.

Understanding Boilers

There are three main types of high-efficiency condensing boiler- the combination or ‘Combi’, the system and the regular.

Each type delivers the benefits of high-efficiency technology, but is suitable for different types of homes.

The ‘Combi’ boiler

Combination or ‘combi’ boilers heat your home and provide instant hot water without the need for a tank.

Combi boilers are an increasing in popularity within UK homes and account for well over half of all the new domestic boilers installed in the UK every year.

Regular Boilers

Suitable for homes with a traditional heating and hot water system, unlike a combi boiler the regular boilers work on the principle of stored water and require a separate hot water tank. This determines how many bathrooms can be supplied. Regular boilers do require more space than combi or system boilers as they often require an expansion tank in the loft.

System boilers

System boilers use stored water which allows them to feed several hot water taps at a time making them ideal for large homes.

System boilers have most of their major components of the heating and hot water system built in, making them more efficient and less space consuming.
